The Department of Civil Engineering and the College of Agriculture are searching for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Civil/ Agricultural Engineering to start August 21, 2019. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success.

Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is an earned doctorate in civil, environmental, biological, or agricultural engineering (or a related field). Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, the doctorate must be complete prior to the beginning of the academic year by August 2019 for an August 2019 starting date. Specific expertise is required in the field of water resources/agricultural engineering. Expertise/ interest and ability to teach a variety of courses in civil engineering (hydrology, hydraulics, etc.) and agriculture (irrigation, water resource management, precision ag technology, etc.) is required. The successful candidate should provide evidence of their commitment to or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Responsibilities include instruction in a variety of civil engineering and agricultural technology courses, achievement in funded research or other funded professional activity, academic and extra-curricular advising of undergraduate students, and service to the university and community. Excellence in teaching, participation in funded research or other professional activity, and service to the university/ community are all requirements for tenure. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the Department of Civil Engineering and the College of Agriculture.

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.

Recruitment Preferences:
The following are preferred qualifications: Candidates have ability and interest in pursuing externally funded research and/ or professional activity (demonstrated through previous accomplishments and/or publications). Candidates have demonstrated their ability as an effective teacher. Candidates have a Bachelor of Science in civil or agricultural engineering (or closely related discipline) from an ABET-accredited program, professional registration in Civil Engineering (any state) or the ability to obtain professional registration within a few years.
