Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, the first Department of Industrial Engineering founded in the world, is pleased to announce a search for an outstanding non-tenure track hire with a start date as early as Spring 2023.

The expected rank is Assistant Teaching Professor. However, applicants with outstanding records and appropriate qualifications will be considered at the rank of Associate Teaching Professor or Teaching Professor. Applicants at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor must have an earned master's or terminal degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field by the expected start date. To qualify for the rank of Teaching Professor, applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field by the expected start date. Non-tenure line academic rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience, as specified in Penn State's AC21 policy. In addition, excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

The primary duty of the non-tenure track faculty member is innovative and high-quality teaching of undergraduate industrial engineering courses. Qualified faculty may also teach graduate industrial engineering courses. Candidates whose backgrounds enable them to teach multiple undergraduate courses in at least one area of industrial engineering, including operations research, service systems, human factors, statistics/data science/machine learning, and manufacturing, will be considered. The Department is especially interested in candidates who are passionate about teaching, who will lead the Department's teaching efforts, and who will disseminate innovative and successful teaching methods nationally and internationally. The Department is also especially interested in candidates whose background and/or service interests promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This is a limited term position, funded for three years from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal.

Interested applicants should submit: a cover letter, a Curriculum Vitae, a one to two-page teaching statement that includes your plans for innovation and dissemination, a one-page statement of how you have previously supported and promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion in your teaching, research (if applicable), or service and how you plan to do so at Penn State, and a list of 3-5 references. Early applications are encouraged, as consideration will begin once applications are received. Applicants who apply before November 1, 2022, and submit all requested materials, will get full consideration. Please apply at https://hr.psu.edu/careers.
