Applications are being accepted for the Chairperson of the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) within the College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University. The Chair of the CAEE Department is the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the Department. The successful candidate for the role will be a forward thinking and dynamic leader who possesses a distinguished record of scholarly accomplishments; and of leveraging academic, corporate, and government partnerships for the benefit of learning and discovery.

(S)he is charged with leading the faculty and staff in advancing the Department's research, teaching, and service mission; and must be committed to student learning and promoting a culture that values diversity. The responsibilities of the Chair will include faculty recruitment and development, strengthening research programs, curriculum development and accreditation, strategic planning, promoting a high-quality learning environment, and fostering relationships with government agencies and the professional community.

North Carolina A&T State University is a learner-centered community that develops and preserves intellectual capital through interdisciplinary learning, discovery, engagement, and operational excellence. The doctoral research intensive and public land-grant University enrolls almost 13,300 students, where the College of Engineering, with over 2,300 students, includes 5 doctoral programs (in Industrial Systems and Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Data Science and Engineering; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering), 8 Masters degree programs, and 10 ABET accredited undergraduate programs. Required qualifications: Qualifications for the position include an earned doctorate in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline; significant experience in research and teaching; experience in leading and inspiring others, program development, and collaborative work.

The right leader is an effective communicator able to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and external constituencies; and has a commitment to diversity, collegiality, and shared governance.
A demonstrated ability and experience in administration or management is highly desirable.
Proven experience in progressive accomplishments in computer science, academic leadership, and organizational change/transformation, particularly in higher education, is highly preferred. Additional information about the College can be found at www.ncat.edu/coe.
