Dean of the College of Science and Engineering

Abilene Christian University (ACU) invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest for Dean of the new College of Science and Engineering (CSE). ACU is seeking a dynamic and creative scholar/leader who is energized by the exceptional opportunity presented at an innovative and forward-looking university and where the entire University community shares a commitment to cultivating Christian service and leadership.

Over the past decade, ACU has grown to national university status as a Carnegie-classified doctoral/professional institution; established an online branch campus based in Dallas that has more than 2,000 students enrolled; launched more than 30 new academic programs; emerged into NCAA Division I play; seen the University endowment grow to $675 million; become a top producer of Fulbright Scholars; and has been ranked in the top 50 nationally for undergraduate teaching and research by U.S. News and World Report.

The first pillar of ACU's ambitious strategic plan is to elevate the academic brand to that of a world-class, faith-based national university. As part of that initiative, the University is reorganizing its academic departments and creating two new Colleges: the College of Science and Engineering and the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences (a concurrent search).

Beginning with the 2023-24 academic year, the new College of Science and Engineering will bring together the departments of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Engineering and Physics, and Mathematics. The College will also work collaboratively with the Center for Pre-Health Professions. The inaugural deanship is a unique opportunity to establish a cohesive sense of identity and vision for the new College, build upon the momentum of its science, mathematics, and engineering programs, and implement a strategic plan to establish new graduate programs, enhance research, and promote excellence in undergraduate education. The Dean will also play a major role in achieving ACU's commitment to establishing the University as a national, R2 institution.
