About the Position:
The Office of Student Transitions Services helps ease the challenge of navigating a University or College campus, giving all Titans a chance to succeed in their higher education career the moment that they set foot on the Cal State Fullerton campus. An essential component of securing new Titans, the professionals within Student Transitions lead the efforts of Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation, Admissions and Records, financial aid services and community educational outreach at local high schools. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant Director, College Access and Transitions (Student Services Professional IV). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Reporting directly to the Director of Outreach, Recruitment, and Titan Orientation Programs, the Assistant Directors for College Access and Transitions provide lead work in all aspects of the department, from pre-prospect to matriculation and beyond for students and their families for CSUF and their respective assigned college(s). Plays a key role in an integral department that leads university wide efforts in outreach, recruitment, orientation, yield and welcome and transition events for prospective Titans and families, and new FTF/UDT incoming students. The Assistant Director leads projects, events, communication efforts and logistics in the enrollment management timeline funnel for designated colleges. Addresses difficult individual, group or organizational problems by developing and recommending courses of action, and implementing proposed solutions. Served as a liaison to assigned college(s) in communicating and coordinating outreach, recruitment, orientation and other college specific yield and transition programs and events. Serves as collaborators with assigned college(s) to identify college access and recruitment needs that result in college specific enrollment targets by utilizing data, and best practices. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution. Four years of professional student services work experience including experience advising students individually and in groups, as well as the analysis and resolution of complex student services problems. A masters degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, clinical psychology, social work or a job related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university and the appropriate internship or clinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for two years of professional experience.

General knowledge of the problems and methods of public administration, including organizational, personnel, and fiscal management. Knowledge of advanced statistical and research methods. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities and of the overall organization.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
