The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering at the University of New Orleans announces an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified individual to be an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

    Job Summary:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical and computer engineering.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, lectures, assignments, exams, and assessment.
  • Advise and mentor students in research projects, theses, and dissertations.
  • Conduct research in electrical engineering, with a focus on advancing knowledge and solving practical problems in the field.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Seek and secure external funding for research through grant proposals.
  • Participate in departmental and university service activities, such as committee work, student recruitment, and outreach events.
  • Provide professional service to the electrical and computer engineering community, such as serving on technical committees, reviewing manuscripts, and participating in professional organizations.

    Required Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in electrical engineering with expertise in power electronics, renewable energy systems, application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in power systems, or a closely related area.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A viable plan to develop and sustain an externally funded research program.
  • Evidence of a commitment to educate undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Commitment to support the diversity, equity, and inclusion mission of the college and university.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional licensure or ability to obtain it
  • Professional experience
  • Experience with interdisciplinary research collaborations
  • Experience with online teaching and learning platforms
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience in program assessment
