Assistant Professor of Engineering

Penn State Hazleton invites applications for a faculty position, Assistant Professor of Engineering (Tenure-Track, 36 weeks) to begin August 2021, or as negotiated.

Responsibilities: Teach each semester using traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods. Teaching assignments may include classroom and laboratory courses in engineering design, digital logic, computer programming for engineers and electrical engineering topics (examples include courses on circuits, three-phase power, electrical machines and power systems analysis). Teaching assignments may require teaching day and/or evening as needed. Publish in refereed journals. Participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Education or related field. ABD Considered. Teaching duties fall within the Alternative Energy and Power Generation option in the BS Engineering degree program unique to the campus. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests are complementary to the programmatic focus on Alternative Energy and Power Generation. Ability to teach a variety of engineering courses required. Evidence of potential in research and publication is expected. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Bicultural and/or bilingual (Latinx/Spanish) preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
