Kettering University, a private (nonprofit) coeducational institution in Flint, Michigan, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications from individuals interested in a transformational leadership opportunity as Endowed Chair and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Leading Kettering's showcase program, the Department Head will have the opportunity to facilitate the development of a collective vision for the department as it finds its place in the contemporary landscape of mechanical engineering and bring the department into alignment with the university's new academic focus areas: advanced mobility, new energy vehicles, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. Outstandingly qualified candidates will be eligible for an endowed professorship, but the position is available without the endowed professorship as well.

The next Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering will have the exciting opportunity to lead the University's flagship program at a time of innovation and transformation across the many industries it supports. Our department values industry-centered teaching, research, and experience. Strong historical ties allow us to grow with and in front of the automotive industry, and we continue to grow beyond into industries involved in Advanced Mobility, Intelligent Manufacturing, New Energy, Sustainability, and Artificial Intelligence. The overarching goal of the Department is to produce outstanding engineers who have the technical knowledge, practical experience, and business network to be industry leaders.
