What will you do as a Project Electrical Engineer in the Office of Design & Construction?

The Project Electrical Engineer provides expertise for construction of all new buildings, large and small renovations, electrical systems upgrades, capital repair, deferred maintenance and in-house projects, and review design documents to assure conformance to the University of Oregon Design Standards.

The position will advise and provide engineering direction on construction, utility, repair, deferred maintenance and energy projects and all electrical and telecommunications related components and projects, and provide support in project planning and budgeting.

The Project Electrical Engineer will assist in all phases of a project and provide support related to Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) systems and updating campus design standards. The Electrical Engineer will participate in building, utility and energy systems studies targeting system performance, for planning and development of projects. The position will perform arc flash studies and maintain the campus ETAP model and oversee electrical arc flash and coordination studies for capital projects.

As a member of the Design and Construction Team, a typical day will include responding to requests from the campus community and CPFM units for electrical related issues and/or concerns, which may involve field investigation in buildings and utility tunnels. Reviewing plans and specifications, approving RFI's and submittals and conducting on-site project visits, which vary based on project schedules and phasing. This position makes decisions regarding energy efficiency of systems, electrical systems: sizing of circuits, panels, electrical feeds, coordination and arc flash studies.

The Project Electrical Engineer will prioritize daily work between capital project documents, support for CPFM units, in-house design and project development. The position routinely coordinates between Design & Construction and the Utilities and Energy unit in support of ongoing projects, utility metering, initiatives and utility projects.

Driving Requirement:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver's license throughout employment in this position.

What you need to be considered for this role (Minimum Qualifications)

A Bachelor's degree in either Civil, Electrical, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management Engineering, or Energy Management Engineering; AND
Four years of engineering experience.

It's great, but not required, to have... (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience as an Electrical designer or consultant
Hold a current Professional Engineering License in Oregon.
Experience conducting Arc Flash and Coordination Studies.
District MV utility system experience.
Experience working with Oregon State codes, rules and regulations regarding building systems.
Experience with updated Oregon Energy Code and IEEE guidelines
Experience with Autodesk design software.
LEED Accredited Professional.
