Overview
The Computer Numeric Control Instructor teaches credit courses within the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Technician Diploma program at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center. Instruction is provided utilizing flexible formats that meet the educational needs of students, business and industry. This position collaborates with employers, provides oversight of program part-time (adjunct) faculty, and is a member of the Manufacturing, Apprenticeship, Technology and Transportation (MATT) Division faculty.
This position teaches courses in the areas of study including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programming; Computer Assisted Manufacturing (CAM) software; precision measuring devices including a CMM; precision CNC mills, and precision CNC turning; blueprint reading.
We have two instructional openings for this posting. One instructional position is Limited Term (LTE) based on grant funding through May 2025, continuation of the the LTE position will be evaluated based on funding and program enrollment.

Responsibilities
1. Provide instruction for Computer Numeric Control (CNC) courses as assigned
2. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment in the Computer Numeric Control Technician program to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum. Use data to measure program outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence.
3. Support students in FlexLab courses team-taught in coordination with other BTC Computer Numeric Control faculty. Collaborate with instructors, advisors and staff in a team effort to help improve student success in the program's flexible teaching and learning environment.
4. Remain current on best practices in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology, and utilizes alternative delivery methods. Develop curricula, assessments and lab projects utilizing the program's flexible teaching modalities including on-line, lab-based and project driven learning.
5. Manage classrooms and oversee the lab to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Responsible for lab inventory, ordering of supplies, tools and equipment, and the maintenance of required slab equipment.
6. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
7. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Learning Resources staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
8. Develop and update or revise course and program curriculum as needed to maintain relevance. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.
9. Meet weekly office hours and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.
10. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
11. Collaborate with Business & Industry and Secondary Education partners to recruit students to the Computer Numeric Control program. Assist in job placement activities for graduates.
12. Attend Advisory Committee and departmental meetings.
13. Participate in staff development activities and serve on college improvement teams and college wide committees as appropriate.
14. Assist faculty chair and dean in other duties as assigned.
15. Meet Wisconsin Technical College System professional development requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Computer Numeric Control,Tool & Die, or other related field
OR
Professional Qualification Plan to obtain an associate degree in a related field within 3 years of date of hire
2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in Programming Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Turning and Machining Centers, Advanced Manual Programming and Edits or related position of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years of the date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Recent experience and application with any of the following: Mastercam, Programming Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Geometric dimension and tolerances, Integrate Computer Aided Design Drafting (CAD), Interpreting Engineering Drawings, Metrology, Operating Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM), Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Tool, Set-Up, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Tool Operation, Die Making, Mold Making
Prior post-secondary teaching experience
Completion of federally-recognized apprenticeship in a manufacturing related field
