Position Description
The Director of Development, College of the Arts secures philanthropic funds to support specific programs and activities in the College of the Arts. The director of development provides leadership and day to day management of an integrated program of development activities for the College of the Arts, as well as the Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum and the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits philanthropic gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations to support students, faculty, programs, and departments in the College of the Arts. Collaborates with University Relations and Development and the Dean of the College to identify college philanthropic priorities and create successful development strategies for each one. Works with various constituents, businesses, community organizations, and community leaders to develop strategic objectives that will result in philanthropic partnerships benefiting the College of the Arts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the solicitation process in an educational environment. Proficient in identifying and building a pipeline of future donors. Excellent planning, organizing, and problem solving skills. Strong competency in oral and written communication. Effective supervisor in managing college's development office and development coordinator's workload. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Self-directed in the initiation, coordination, and completion of tasks is essential.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and five years of demonstrated successful major gift fundraising experience including donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation. Experience in higher education preferred.

Licenses / Certificates
CA Driver's License, Class C.

Conflict of Interest
The duties of this position will include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
