10-Month Tenure Track Position

COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Representative Duties


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create a learning environment that fosters student success, using different teaching modalities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
  • Teach in accordance with departmental course outlines and design instructional activities to promote student success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in program and curriculum development and participate in other departmental meetings and projects.
  • Teach scheduled classes on-campus and in-person and perform related duties as assigned.
  • Serve on academic senate and shared governance committees as necessary to support and enrich instructional programs.
  • Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Comply with district policies and procedures in the performance of all duties by timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities including holding weekly office hours and being available to assist students as required.
  • Participate in assessment, program review, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes.
  • Proficiency in the latest industry software and technologies used in engineering and architectural design.
  • Stay current with evolving engineering processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Serve as liaison with the local/regional business and industry community. Serve as a resource for economic development and workforce development initiatives within our community


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's in any field of engineering
OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology OR the equivalent from District approved accredited institution.

(NOTE: A bachelor's in any field of engineering with a professional engineer's license is an alternative qualification for this discipline

Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Professional experience in any engineering field
  • Experience teaching in higher education

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.

Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of:

  • Course and curriculum development
  • Syllabus creation.
  • Learning management system
  • Engineering Fundamentals: Deep understanding of engineering principles and practices relevant to entry-level courses. This includes mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics, and civil engineering basics.
  • Architectural Design Principles: Knowledge of fundamental architectural concepts, including design thinking, spatial planning, and sustainable design practices.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Ability to design and implement effective assessment strategies to measure student learning outcomes and course effectiveness.
  • Educational Technology: Proficiency in utilizing modern educational technologies and software related to engineering and architecture, such as CAD, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and simulation tools.
  • Effective assessment strategies to measure student learning outcomes and course effectiveness.
  • Research and Scholarship: Interest and ability to engage in research or scholarly activities related to engineering and architecture education.
