Connect to Baby is a free program that uses communication and play to build strong connections between parents and children. During our sessions, CTB uses media and activities to strengthen relationship skills in order to create a strong parenting team. Each week, parents meet with a trained facilitator to learn about how to communicate about parenting and get to know their baby better.

Georgetown's pilot program will be delivered remotely, via Zoom in collaboration with Early Head Start centers throughout Washington DC - with data collected from parents virtually, through Zoom interviews.

Job Overview

The Research Assistant - in a necessarily outgoing, caring professional role - supports the Connect to Baby program by collecting data via virtual interviews with parents.

As well, they are involved in data management, tracking recruited participants, assigning participants to data collectors, assigning facilitators to treatment families, and tracking facilitator sessions.

They also coordinate team meetings for data collectors and coordinate with the lead facilitator to track recruitment and facilitator progress on a weekly basis.

Work interactions and Work Mode Designation

The Research Assistant is supervised very closely supervised by Principal Investigators.

They also work directly with other data collectors and coordinate with the recruitment and facilitator coordinator for this project.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree
  • Research experience collecting data and/or interacting with people


Preferred Qualifications
  • Observational coding experience using Datayvu software and Excel
  • Proficiency with REDCap tracking system
  • Familiarity with STATA or other statistical software - for example, R
  • Current driver's license
  • Spanish speak skills, given the DC metropolitan area's growing Spanish speaking population and because data are collected in the home and the study examines parents' talk with each other and children
